Terms and Conditions
Donation Eligibility
Thank you to all across the world who support this important mission; however, since The 51st State’s role in this cause is mostly related to affecting Canadian elections:
- Donations will be restricted to only Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and entities operating in Canada.
- Note: This is not a non-profit, so no tax-deduction receipt will be issued.
- All donations from non-Canadians will be refused.
- Payment for transactions for unrelated services might be considered, but the donor must sign an agreement affirming it is not to influence the elections and there must be a genuine exchange of services.
Disclosure Rules
If you donate over $200, you:
- Consent to your name and address being disclosed to Elections Canada.
- Understand that Elections Canada will publish your name, city, and postal code publicly while redacting your street address.
Donations below $200 during the election period:
- Will not require your name or address to be disclosed to Elections Canada.
- If you wish to avoid public disclosure entirely, ensure your total donations to “The 51st State” remain below $200 up until the election.
More information can be found in the Political Financing Handbook.
Address Reporting
The address that will be reported to Elections Canada will be the “shipping address” you provide.
(Note: Nothing will be actually shipped to you.)
High-Value Donations
Donations of $10,000 or more in any 24-hour period will require additional reporting to comply with Anti-Money Laundering laws.
Large donations may be allowed through methods other than the payment processing on the page as long as you agree to everything in these terms.
Please contact us at nextusstate.com/contact for donations of this size.
General Terms
- If The 51st State reaches the spending limits imposed by Elections Canada, funds may be used for the future referendum, for general non-partisan election work such as funding debates, or the general cause of helping make Canada the 51st State.
- Donors are not entitled to any special privileges or benefits from The 51st State or its owner because of their donations.
- If donating as a number-company, be sure to include the name of the CEO or President of the company as well in your submission.
- Donations are not refundable once made. If a mistake occurs, you must notify us immediately at nextusstate.com/contact.
Privacy Policy
Contact information, including email addresses, may be disclosed to auditors or regulatory authorities if required for compliance with legal obligations.
The privacy policy can be viewed at nextusstate.com/privacy.
